PAD submission experience

Well, its time for an update. My program was downloaded 108 times in March. I'm fairly pleased. The prog has seasonal attraction, and October would likely be the optimal month. Taking into account the number of sites carrying the software now, I think I could get 1000 downloads easily.

Over the next couple of months I'll be pushing out at least a couple more programs. Based on my experience so far I would definitely say that if you're bootstrapping this method using all of the freebie methods for site submission you'll need to wait a few months before you see your program widely spread.

As far as backlinks go, well, I'm not sure how successful this method is. Its early, but an examination of my logs does not show many good backlinks.

Given the nature of these filesites, it might be a good idea to keep track of the sites that DO give you a backlink and stick those URLs into a Bookmarking Demon run.

I'll update this thread at least once a month.

Ok I've used several commercial PAD submitters, and I've only got back a handful of backlinks from the thousands of submits I've made. This technique is now useless for backlinks IMHO.
