Use archive.org to check what kind of content was posted on the domain. Then use semrush, ahrefs or ubersuggest to check what kind of backlinks are pointing to the domain. Make sure there are no p*rn or casino kind of links linking to it. Also use a spam checker tool to check the spam score.
