Ive been researching and am confused. Ive read that DA and PA are metrics that MOZ recognizes and PR is what google recognizes. Which would mean that PR is more important for ranking in terms of googles eyes. But a lot of the content and research I have read is 1-3 years old and maybe out of date.
What matters in terms of backlink profiles of DA/PA/PR for better ranking boosts for the current time 05/2015?

What matters is the actual backlink profile - DA/TF/PA will all fall into place if the links are decent.
 
External PR that you can see with Google's toolbar: Google hasn't updated PR since 2013, and they probably will never update it again.

PR that Google uses internally to evaluate your website: This is updated daily, and you have no way to know what it is.
 
Good. First of all you should know about current algorithm using in search engine. Now its considering only back link which should be related to your site and make sure you have expecting information.

You understood right. The only downside to PR is that, as others have pointed out, is outdated. However, using common sense PR can still be very helpful. The way I use it is for analyzing expired domains, more specifically their backlinks.

I figured if a site had the PR3 of a page with a link to a domain 2 years ago, and the page hasn't lost any links/content is the same/it's not a shady website, the link power should still be the equivalent of PR3.
 
Far better to use ahrefs as a measure of a sites power. PR(goolge) and DA(moz) are simply not as accurate.
 
Op PR is not updating from last few years and DA is shit metric its can be increased easily with secrete sauce from fiverr. You need check backlinks profile of domains or get links from Real blogs if you are looking for quality.

Don't get fooled with all of these metrics.The most important thing is your backlink profile and quality links coming to a site.
 
There is no reliable metric. It's somehow all comes down to common sense.
 
Yes correct and also you could be unique and worth with your site right.Do you check your outbound links?
