I was just wondering if I bought one of those traffic bots that are programmed just to sit there and click on your website all day long would that get my page rank up?

No but will raise alexa ranking.

is it really like everyone says? you know, like all of that backlinking and social media and what not to get on the first page of google? How do you do it?

Wade, you get higher ranking by bringing in more traffic.

The front page ranks have the highest traffic and if you want to beat them, you need to get more people on your site spending more time on your site.

How you do this is up to you, but you know what you need to succeed, so study up and put what you learn to use
