own affiliate program vs. affiliate networks

Hi Guys!

Would you join a direct affiliate program? or would you prefer to work through some affiliate network though you will have to pay a particular affiliate fees?

Sure, there have always been instances where direct affiliate programs are not run honestly. But shall all direct affiliate programs be judged as such?

Good Question, I am trying to figure out a way to do a direct aff program myself. Obviously there has to be some faith between all parties but as a company trying to get affiliates I do not see the value in scamming the affiliates!
The idea is generate sales and traffic and if you have affiliates doing that why be dishonest?

but some affiliates demand integration with some big network as they want third party monitoring.

that can make sense BUT affiliates will get lower rate and commission as the network charges its own percentage.

So , I would like to know what the majority thinks.
