Hello, I'm creating some MNS and I would like to know how can I avoid overoptimization and what is considered overoptimization.

Thank you

One thing i would say is, it's your links that will rank you more than onpage SEO

Overoptimization in my opinion is when you only think of creating your website for ranking in the search engine. Do not put too many keywords on your meta tags and keyword. Thats one step the rest just think about what your visitors would like on your site.

Try to use the keyword density below 1%. Mention the keyword in the title, in the first sentence and in the last sentence of the article. Also use the keyword one time in the meta description.

Just forget about exact match keywords and linking 5-10 times in one article. Play smart and use it 1% and long anchor texts if you want to do it.

It gets me, over-optimization. Something is either optimal, or not.

Anyway, any keyword stuffing needs to be avoided.

Using bold, underline, and italic for your keywords is overdoing it. (these are markup tools, not content tools now)

Using alt tag descriptions for your images that are keyword related, but not related to the actual image is bad. (instead of saying the image is "best blender under $100" say "man holding blender")

Using heading tags to control font size instead of style statements can inadvertently keyword stuff your heading tags.

If you are writing using keywords instead of popular vernacular is bad:

"Thompson water seal is the best water seal in Texas" is fine.

"Thompson water seal Texas is the best" is not.
(unless your company name is "Thompson water seal Texas")

For starters, I'd say keep the meta tags and descriptions relatively short, and not packed with keywords. Keyword stuffing does not help at all. Doing too much on page is going to end up damaging rather than helping!
