Outsourcing ebay tasks - account access/trust.

Hello,

I want to start an ebay shop and I need to outsource listing.

I'm getting somebody remote to do this and so there is no trust.

Is it possible to add secondary users with limited access... or do I just hand over my password and give agent free access to everything?

If this is the case then sure there is a risk of the account being stolen and ransomed back to me.

Any thoughts?

P.S. I don't have turbolister yet.

There's no way I'm aware of adding lower class level users to an ebay account, AFAIK every account is singularly owned and tied to an email address, no guest-access or anything like this.

Not directly through eBay unless you're an enterprise level account. It's possible to do it through 3rd party apps. Basically you give the sub contractor only access to your 3rd party app and the app does not store eBay passwords or paypal info. This way they can still mess you up but they can't outright steal your account. I'd be more worried about them copying your business model or selling your data than outright theft of account.

Ok, so there are basically third part tools for listing etc then? Do I just give them the API key and they enter it into the program?

Can you recommend any of these apps please?

I guess my big problem is the lack of File Exchange access. Once I get this then I can programatically create the listing files and or get my agent to do this manually.

It's just a stop gap I need until then really?

yes, there are lots of them

Basically what you do is you log into the program and the program will log into eBay with your eBay account name and password (it is not stored in the program itself) and the program will get permission to mess with your eBay listings for 1 year.

I use inkfrog but can not recommend them because it's buggy as hell and some of those bugs potentially can compromise your stealth accounts. I'm seriously considering switching to Sixbit Software. That company is run by people who used to write listing aps for eBay. It also allows importation of eBay listings via csv files so that your contractor doesn't have to have access to your accounts at all.

Thanks for the links. Can I ask if you have used ReplyManager? It looks great but is on the pricey side. I know that's an indicator of it's quality but unfortunately that is not always the case.
