Outsourcing arbitrage

Hi,

I was wondering what do you think about this way to make money?

It is basically outsourcing some work, sell it at higher price and make profit.

It can be done with articles, logos, websites, seo services, etc.

Is anybody make money this way?

If does, can you give me some tips how to start?

I was thinking of building list of freelancers on my msn, skype, and then post my services and make money.

Where to put ads for my services? IM related forums? Craigslist?

I've had some pretty good results from arbitrage, but it really depends on what you do and what your goals are.

I do alot of spreadsheet work an independent contractor. A while ago I hired a laid-off actuarian (the guy who handles insurance company statistics) to do some of my work for me for twice my wage. However, he did the work in about a third of the time it would have taken me, and he produced results that were about 10x better than I could have. The end result was a faster submit, and I sneakily added his hours onto mine and claimed overtime.

The end result was that I profited 0.5c an hour on his time, and quadrupled the value of the corporate database with his coding. However, I later realized that I could have performed 75% of the work I hired him to do in 15minutes by buying a $35 plugin. Learning from my mistake, I now have a click-track-macro running the plugin all day to do my spreadsheets, while I spend all day on facebook selling hoodies at a 500% margin.

Morale of the story = Always have a specific reason to hire someone, and always analyze results after a project to find out how to make things work better. Robots = cheaper than people and will impress your boss more than subcontracting.
