Do u guys find it possible easy/hard to outrank products for their company for eample

apple itouch and the top 1-4 would be apple.com

It is possible but for a product such as an iPod touch you will find it incredibly difficult.

It's possible, but difficult. Pay particular attention to the Backlinks to Page and out link build the competition.

Its god damn impossible IMO.
Just make a search for edu sites with ipod links to apple.
Tons of contextual high PR links created, on sites you cant even post a comment on
Second, its impossible to gain higher authority than a site like Apple.
Also when you try to rank for such keyword you are up to face manual review of your site and backlinks.

It's possible for some big companies but here you took a really hard exemple...

Some big companies are not so deeply based in the web market but apple have everything turning around the web. So, i would say that for Apple it's almost impossible but for some others it should be possible.

i guess it is much easier to burn the white house down man :D

The important thing that you can notice is the pages ranking for terms or products like these will be having very less backlinks to those pages. Some wont even have any onsite seo done. Those pages are ranking because of the authority of the domain, and not of the pages as such.

So we can rank above them, but it shall be difficult.

Wikipedia... with about a Trillion backlinks reaches No 2 position, Not above it.

ok that was a hard example let's say something like ugg boots maybe or some type of clothing that's not main stream?

Or things like doors, windows, etc.

Big companies or not, it's all the same. Do the due diligence in analyzing the competition, especially the top 10 and see if it is doable.

Be careful with this... Recent precedent has allowed companies to hit people for trademark infringement not only on adwords/domains, but also advertising.

Big companies with well done SEO: NO!
Big companies with wtf is SEO: YES!
if the search count is high it's till worth getting #2-5

I have ranked big corporations own products before, but they did very little SEO, and their web presence was very thin. Outranking Apple's own products would be like climbing Mount Everest naked. Don't even waste your time. You could still get on the first page with the terms though. With the sheer amount of volume, even at 1% the traffic would be pretty substantial.

It's not something I'd be that keen to even try, for the reasons mentioned above. The work you would need to do would be very time-intensive and you're not only up against the authority these companies have, but also against their budgets and their legal reach.

If you have a plan for it and it's not too time-intensive then you might as well give it a shot, but I just don't see how it could easily be done without leaving yourself wide open to repercussions. It's best to find another way of hitting the heights, because I think trying it would be a lot of risk for potentially very little reward.
