Outranking Amazon / Walmart with an E-Commerce store?

I'm starting an E-Commerce Store and the top rankings are Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, basically all the big box stores with massive DA and very few links. I know that in order to even get a peak at the top 10 I'm going to need excellent on page SEO and content. My question is more specific than that.... Assuming I have an excellent website with great content... What type of links will out rank this? I know a PBN is probably best case in this scenario... but how big of a PBN? what type of power does this PBN need to hold? How much money do you need to invest in a PBN to be able to outrank Amazon etc?

I know this question has been asked many times before... and I know it varies in every niche and with every site.... I'm just wondering if anyone can share some first hand experience or maybe trends that they have noticed when out ranking the big box store...

My advice is to go around it, this sites even if they are not targeting the keywords in question is just too hard moving them from the top (been there done that) so my advice is go back to the strategy, go and find a similar keyword or with the same semantic meaning and i assure you you mostly will ones with cleared ground

I understand what you're saying but certain keywords dont have counter parts with the same "Semantic Meaning"

Most products that Amazon / Walmart dont have the same "Semantic Meaning" for are taken by multiple E-commerce stores...

My question basically is, what does it take to outrank these? How powerful do the PBN's have to be?

It takes months of SEO work and powerful links, not necessarily from PBNs. Start with low competition keywords first so you can build up the authority your site needs to compete against them for the big keywords.

What other powerful links would you be referring to?

Links for non "sexy" Industries are hard to get unless you build your own PBN.

Well you have DA of the domain, then you need to also check the links to the specific page. If there aren't too many, you still have a chance... not easy, but still a chance.
If they have a shitload of links, it's impossible.

Need PBN, links from media, other massive sites, etc.
Aim for a year. Give yourselfa rough guess to how many quality links you'll need. Divide that over a year and try and get that many links per day/week etc.

Besides PBN, consider pyramid link building. This is working for recent Google updates - both Panda & Penguin.

Yeah none of the sites have links, they are all just inner pages of high DA sits like Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot etc..

I'm fine with it taking a year, I just want the ranking to be long term (I know there is no permanent rankings in SEO)

I know its good to have a diverse link profile so I was going to mix in a PBN and some tiered links.... but basically I'm wondering if anyone has any first hand experience outranking these giants and how powerful does your link profile have to be?
