Outbrain vs Taboola — is there actually a difference worth caring about?

Running native ads and trying to decide between Outbrain and Taboola.

From what I can tell they both do the same thing, place ads on news and content sites. Outbrain seems to have slightly more premium publishers. Taboola has more volume.

But is the audience quality actually different? Or is it basically the same people just on different sites?

Anyone who has run both, which one gave you better results and for what type of offer? And is there a reason to run both at the same time or just pick one?

If you have a strict brand image and a higher budget, start with Outbrain for better placement control. If you need maximum scale, cheaper clicks, and aggressive testing, start with Taboola.
 
i've run the same offer on both and the results were rarely identical.
sometimes one platform clearly outperformed the other depending on the audience and placement mix.
that's why testing both is usually worth it.
 
ya man, both are pretty similar, but like u said Outbrain has more premium sites so sometimes the traffic is better quality but less volume. Taboola gets u more eyeballs but can be kinda cheaper clicks. ive ran both, for stuff like ebooks or content marketing Outbrain worked better, for mass traffic / cheap clicks Taboola was ok. running both can work if u wanna test which converts better, but u dont have to, just depends on ur budget and goals.
 
I never found them identical. Sometimes the same creative that struggled on one platform worked surprisingly well on the other, even with a very similar audience.
 
Outbrain offers a clean, beginner friendly dashboard that is very easy to navigate. Taboola provides more complex targeting options and deeper analytics, though it has a steeper learning curve.
 
In my experince the traffic quality is pretty similar, but results can vary by niche, so i'd test both with a small budget before scaling either one.

honestly they are pretty much the same people on different sites but outbrain is better for clean whitehat stuff while taboola works good if you want scale with aggressive offers.

Taboola and Outbrain can give you different types of traffic depending on ur specific niches
Also the guy above is right, taboola tends to have more bh ads, but Outbrain is more focused on big-brand ads. On Outbrain, you usually have to bid higher to get quality traffic:eek:
 
I’ve run both and honestly they feel pretty similar in performance, the main difference is just traffic mix. Outbrain can feel a bit more premium on some placements, while Taboola usually gives more volume. In most cases I pick based on testing CPC and conversion quality rather than expecting a big audience difference.
 
Ive run both and tbh Taboola gave me more volume while Outbrain traffic felt a bit better quality, so test both if budget allows.
