i got some MNS kws (about 10 with 1200>/m) and the only competitors are amazon and ebay And a forum posts with nothing but the keyword in the title no relevant content nothing.

Should i start ranking this keywords or will be hard fail and waste of time?

Regards.

I would like to know this too, I know I read a thread somewhere and the guy said you can outrank them if the page does not have links.

You can obviously outrank them, but it may take you a while as they have domain level authority which new mns sites lack.

In my experience it depends on the KWs as far as Amazon & Ebay. It's unlikely to outrank them for a general product term (where people are looking to buy), but definitely possible on the best/reviews type terms (where people are looking for more info before they buy).

Generally speaking, seeing those types of forums in the serp is a good sign.

You can't outrank them unless your site is several years old with lots of links. Some months ago, I saw some mini niche sites move up to the first page for a medium competition keyword where authority sites like Amazon are ranking on the first page. But they were just lucky because Google penalised some sites at the top and the mini niche sites zoomed to the top as a result. That's another way you can outrank them (if you are fortunate).

Of course it is hard to outrank them. They have thousands of visitors daily and are supreme expert sites

Fact is.. 99% of the mns kws are holded by amazon and ebay on the first 5 places. The point is, thats the only "relevant" content outthere. By some logic those links are there by authority not relevancy. If ibhit hard on the main keyword i would rank it in first place in no time and after ranking the long tails and other keywords i will just make the main keyword even stronger.

Correct me if im wrong please

Regards, Alek.

do not listen to what anyone is saying. one of my affiliate site is in the weight loss supplement niche and it is ranking on page 1 but no matter what i do it will not pass amazon. i have spent over 20k in seo but it never happened. it is not impossible but its just' a very daunting process.

Amazon in general is a chinese wall, you need to put hell lot of work and you need a Authority domain in you niche. If your site is new better spend you energy to be rank next after amazon and ebay.

Also spend time of long tail keywords around that main keywords that will help your site. Once more thing even if your rank below them, make you title different and stand out that may improve your CTR(click through rate). google bold keyword in description and url. so try something like that improve your ctr without improving the rank

Personal experience: I have a short Exact match domain for a keyword and it's still struggling to outrank amazon.

It has outranked ebay easily but amazon is hard to beat. Unfortunately for me it's Amazon TWICE. Ranking goes #1 amazon #2 Amazon and then #3 me. Obviously the click through rate is going to be better on Amazon and the fact that it gets rich snippets preview with the review stars. It makes it stand out that much more!

I even have an ultra low bounce rate of 1.91% and the copy is much more relevant than the amazon content. I'm hoping one day I will surpass but it's been a struggle.

" but definitely possible on the best/reviews type terms (where people are looking for more info before they buy)."

I'd have to agree on that statement though ^

Well.. i guess im going to hit the same problem.do yo outsource seo Or you are doing it alone?

Maybe we can talk on skype abot this? My skype is ceed.exe

It seems like it is hard to outrank Amazon and Ebay, but I do want to know how it is done. Please be more exact on how can this be done. These companies are huge walls and somehow, it is interesting to know that it is possible to scale these walls.

You can outrank them, but it's difficult if the keyword you are targeting is the product itself.

Yes, you can easily outrank amazon with unique content using keyword, using image with tag, image optimization is key and EMD.

I'm not sure it'd be worth the effort anyway. Contrary to popular belief, people do notice the top three or four results. If they see a relatively unknown site at the top and Amazon just below, most people are gonna click on the number two result. Especially if yours doesn't show the star rating etc. Social proof and brand trust are likely to win out either way, which is why they're on top in the first place.

Suprise! today I outranked Amazon finally. It took about 3 to 4 months but the traffic certainly reflects the change now. I'm pretty ecstatic about it actually :)
