Ouch, just loast about 20 gigs

What a dick head I am lol Was so sick and tired of vista on the notebook that the wife uses, decided to put W7 on it and I copied 20 gigs worth of data to a special directory I was gonna burn and then I forgot to burn the mother fucker!!!! I guess I didnt need the data but I think there was some family photos there that arent on the main pc. Is there a easy way to try and access them and get them back? I just used the "format" button on the windows 7 instalation screen, it was very fast so I dont think it was a thorough format.

i use GetDataBack for NTFS in these cases, it's not guaranteed that you can recover your photos, but it's worth a try
let's say with this tool around 80% of the lost data is recoverable even if you formatted the HDD
