Anyone use OS Commerce before? How about for physical products?

I use it daily. And hate it more and more every day. There is no uglier bitch than this.
@Jazzc: Keep me updated, if you here anything new.

Stay away from OSCommerce! Is so damn fucking vulnerable, all your site will be redirected to a .ru domain.

Magento is for the big boys, it 's that good in terms of robustness and functionality. The Magento backend has a shitload of options and they make sense. But it 's not an easy tool to use and configure, it does have a learning curve.

If you have lots of products, need multiple language stores for the same inventory, want a lot of flexibility on tax, shipment cost calculation etc etc, it is an excellent choice.

I used to run a webshop with oscommerce back in 2k.. seems it is still the same kind and nobody really pays attention to it anymore. I did a lot of custom coding and back then there was a decent amount of addons.
I dont know how it performs now but the site itself still looks almost like years ago.

OC is old and ugly.
CRE loaded is better (i have 2 of those but is outdated feature wise)
Magento is a resource pig and hard to use.

You should check WP with shopping carts for light use.
Im running now shopP for wp and its really nice and ez.
presta shop
open cart
etc...

I have my money site on Osc and I have to say it's not ugly (I mean my site is pretty nice looking, the Osc is not that friendly), but with a lot of add-ons and somebody that will set it up for you - it can be workable.

My site has been hacked once, but after I put some protection and monitoring - it's been a smooth sailing.

I haven't used any other platforms except a decent shopping cart script (that doesn't get support any more) and for physical products you can make it work ok.

P.S. my OSC site is heavily edited and all the ugly graphics are changed, without custom work it is crap

My favorite is as just E-Commerce packages:
#1- OpenCart
#2 - Magento

No need for anymore...
If you like Joomla than a must is VirtueMart (especially with 2.0 launching soon in a few days).

Zencart/OSCommerce are ugly and bad.

If you stick with OSC - you can make a site like http://www.theplasticpeople.co.uk (I see that they made some changes and it looks worse now...)

Actually I copied some elements from it and my site looks much better :D
