I want to do Online Reputation Management (ORM) for a hotel. What activities should be included for ORM?
duuude.... this post alone beats all of the posts COMBINED that I've made on this forum in 3 years. Like, damn!Alright, before anything else ask the hotel to at the very least improve their services, staff behaviour, food options and cleanliness.
Then you undertake a few things -
Data Collection
First collect an enormous data dump of information about the hotel
- High Quality Images (Lots of them)
- High Quality Videos
- Proper Address
- Proper Phone Number(s)
- Google Map Links
- Hotel Information (Use AI to embellish and create several variations)
- Hotel Amenities
- Hotel Support Desk Contact (Email, Phone, Online Helpdesk)
- Four Primary Socials (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin (Trust me, yes) and X)
Now armed with this information, your journey begins
First Stop, Google Listing/Google Travel
https://travel.google/partners/hotels/get-started/
Deck up the profile as good as you can. Remove old photos, add new HQ ones along with videos

//
Second Stop, the hotel's website
This is very important.
It's not necessary to build a reservation/booking engine if the hotel doesn't have one. But a multi pager website is very important.
If you don't have an inhouse booking engine, you can link out to your profiles on booking.com, expedia, makemytrip etc.
Or add a contact form (which is monitored) for booking enquiries.
- Add Links to Socials + Address and Phone on the footer of every page
- Showcase room types with high quality photos
- Create content around the area the hotel is located in "Hotels in Solan Valley", "Things to do in Solan Valley" etc.
//
Third Stop, Deck up all your socials
Sign up anywhere and everywhere you can for socials.
A proper profile picture (with your logo), proper and consistent NAP details (Name, Address and Phone) and HQ pictures of rooms and the hotel
//
Fourth Stop, Create a Generic Social Content Calendar for at least 6 months
- Work with the hotel to execute special seasonal/non-seasonal offers
- Create content around festivals, new years etc.
- Look at generic content on other hotel socials and imitate it
- Create content around the area "Top 10 Tourist Attractions in Solan Valley"
- Post room types, visuals of the room, happy families (with their permission)
- Staff Profiles - "When you arrive at (hotel), you meet John. John handles housekeeping for our hotel, and has been with us for 8 years. He's the reason why you have a spick and span room. And why customers rave about our extreme attention to detail on cleanliness."
Schedule this content using a decent scheduler across all the social media.
Important - This content also needs to go on your Google Places profile. This is largely ignored and shouldn't be.
//
Fifth Stop, sign up on hotel listing directories
Start with TripAdvisor - https://www.tripadvisor.in/Owners
Then move forth with
Kayak - https://www.kayak.com/hotelowner
Expedia - https://stage-publish.welcome.expediagroup.com/en
Trivago - https://company.trivago.com/get-listed/
Booking.com - https://join.booking.com/
Agoda - https://www.agoda.com/en-us/list-my-property
Now your name suggests you're from India and so I'll list a few India specific websites
GoIbibo - MMT Partnership - https://in.goibibo.com/accounts/login/?next=/extranet/#dashboard
This will list your site on GoIbibo, MakeMyTrip, Redbus etc.
EaseMyTrip - https://www.easemytrip.com/hotels/appinventry/index
TravelGuru - https://www.travelguru.com/hotel-registration/register.shtml
Beyond that, take a look at the Competition list we created. Search for their name, see where they are listed. Prepare a listing for your client on there too.
//
Sixth Stop, PR
Buy a local PR service that can publish your client's name in one of the top sites/newszines in the Indian market.
Explore the marketplace here, find sellers who can get you on sites like Outlook India and more.
//
Seventh Stop, the fun part - SEO
This is where you push links to your socials and your company profiles and directory listings and PR articles and the hotel's main website.
Get good quality - Tier 1 links and keep a track of all rankings.
//
Last Stop - Review Farming
Most of the channels mentioned above will let you place reviews on your profiles.
Explore the marketplace, work with a trustworthy provider to purchase 5 star reviews on these channels.
You begin with Google Listing, then Facebook, then TripAdvisor and MakeMyTrip and then everywhere else.
The number of reviews you build will depend on your current review state (if you have tons of negative reviews), your location and the ticket size of the client.
Stagger the reviews and make them sound natural. Mention staff names.
Research keywords from competitors, extract them and use them in your reviews.
//
There's more that can be done. But this is the up and up of a successful ORM for a hotel.
Good luck.

A key ORM priority for the hotel is enhancing its ratings on Google, Booking.com, and other review platforms.I want to do Online Reputation Management (ORM) for a hotel. What activities should be included for ORM?
