ORM Method: Customer Complaint – With A Twist

10 percent response rate and it wasn't even personalized. Speaks volumes to the demand for this service. I was thinking about sending my letters out after the new year but I might send out a small test sooner based on those results.

Great share netmoney.

So it looks like you are going after full on Rep Mgmt rather than the scaled down review mgmt service, is that right?

For every success you have a half dozen failures. that's how it goes. Good thread + rep for showing people what it means to do something and not just sit here and post comments all day.

Thank you!

There is def a huge NEED for a service like this - think about it - EVERYONE googles a business prior to even stepping foot in the door.

You may want to wait until after the new year...we aren't going to do anything further until after Jan 1. These next two weeks are filled with holiday parties and everyone seems to already be on mental vacation. These next 2 weeks will be spent brainstorming new ideas...then we will come out swinging in 2013 and blow it through the roof!

As far as full on service - yes, he does a full on ORM service. I am learning about it - he is the brains behind the process - I am just the "ideas/marketing guy" lol - he is good behind the computer making the magic happen - but his business was at a stand still...so I decided to help and it turned into a growing opportunity as he saw the potential - I helped him ring in over $20k of new business in 3 weeks - so it lit a fire under his ass and now he wants to constantly brainstorm. So we will see where it goes...

I will be honest with everyone reading this. Netmoney1 is financially successful already, and will continue to do so because he is clearly valuing his time (brainstorming then taking action), has a good plan (Gift certificates to Starbucks would work well for $10 too), and is executing a plan that can easily scale.

Congratulations!

That is because this method is called doing real 'work'. There is no way netmoney1 will fail by doing these tests over and over. In reality this is a lot easier to do than ppc, mediabuy etc.Your threshold for breaking even is very low, literally low, because the value you get from getting a customer, providing a good service, is more on the referral side.

Technically netmone1, all you really need is to do around 10 of these services to see referrals come in. Don't even worry about it man, you didn't really lose 500 dollars, your fine! As you keep doing these, your efficiency will get better and you will notice tricks and tips to use.

I wanted to do something like this but use technology to automate the searching. Basically use sentiment analysis to analyze hundreds if not thousands of different reviews, comments, tweets from each company and run them through a bot that can analyze literally the sentiment level on each comment, review, tweet.

There are companies like http://www.sentimetrix.com , that are using Gate products to do all that. In other words, man this is the technology that was used by romney and obama to manage their online reputation by analyzing their tweets, comments, facebook comments automatically.

IF a good job is completed, then the provider literally opens up a new circle of prospects because all of these hotel managers/owners obviously must know other important business owners, it takes one to know another always remember that.

Spot on...each client is worth so much in the long term...as are their connections and referrals. Just a few seeds...(when watered properly)...will grow an entire client base

That's exactly what I was thinking. I've been in B2B sales for long time and typically December is a throw-away month. I'll just stick to my plan and use the rest of this month to build my prospect list and prepare my letters.

As far as full on service - yes, he does a full on ORM service. ...

I see the review management piece as an angle to get in the door and land the client on a small recurring contract, then go for the upsell once the trust is built (ORM, SEO, Social Media, etc).

Subscribed like the way your thinking. :) Hope to see some awesome things from you in 2013 :)

Another call came in today off the campaign, but they were not interested in reputation management - the guy was very straight up and said "we don't care about those reviews - we sell out regardless" - and my friend ended up contracting them for another site design - a "rewards site" for promotional offers etc. Not a grand slam...but a solid triple lol

Anyway, the return was def worth the investment...and who knows...maybe some more deals will come from it...

Either way....we have some AWESOME ideas planned for testing after the New Year!

Nice! I appreciate the daily updates, as I'm sure many of the followers do.

Can you tell me how you are presenting yourself in the original letter? Is it as a company or as an independent consultant? I think 7878 went for the consulting angle in his letter. Do you include a website in the letter or just enough info to get the call back?

He has a physical office location - so presenting it as a service of the company. Being local helps...not including the website address although they could easily find it online if they wanted to - the goal is just to get the phone to ring...then when you have them on the phone you can have them jump on the site, walk them through it, etc.

Solid method. All I need to do to enter in this market is learning ORM :p

NetMoney1 - can you talk a little about the actual method you are going to use to help them out? You going with 7878's technique or something else?

As stated before this is my friends company...I came in to help get the gears turning...and it has just turned into much more. As far as the method he uses: bumping unfavorable sites out of view

Please tell me the truth, how many of you read the whole post?

hotels are an interesting market for ORM. many big hotel chains actually upsell marketing and ecommerce services. Also, since many hotels are franchaisee to a chain, they really cant spent unless it gives them a return.

If they are a well known chain, i can safely guess they are not the marriot brand hotels. I dare say hilton wont need it as well but thats from personal chats with hotel managers.

You are 100% correct...although there are the Hiltons and Marriots here...the majority are high end boutique hotels...not large chains. A Hilton and or Marriot type would require corporate approval and jumping through a million hoops

ahh, the boutique hotels are interesting to target. They need more content and reviews to brand differentiate themselves from the ritz carlton of the world. Good job!

Although i will add that some hotels have decided to do the daily deals route to boost occupancy rates. Obv this is not done for the higher end market but I think it would be interesting as an approach to go on an aggregator site like yippit to see which hotel is offering daily deals & to upsell proper guest satisfaction.

Exactly. If a hotel has crappy reviews they can throw up a deal on livingsocial or groupon and sell out within minutes.

We have some good ideas brewing...some that could work in any market. Can't wait to test them all out!
