I create my own short form content (Web Series, short films, skits). I am looking to launch a new series, but I am wondering about the best length for overall popularity and profit.

I have done alright with 8 minute videos for action and five minute videos for comedy. I am in the pre-production stage for an action series, sitcom, and child led sitcom (Think Fred). What would be the best length times for each series? I am most interested in maximizing my earning potential and rank via audience retention.

I agree. I think it will work well for the two comedy shorts. Not so sure about the action though. I am thinking I may have to settle for 5 minutes or less to tell a story.

I agree with the above. 2-3 minutes is the best.

It will make the amount of content stretch an entire season. Does anyone have any experience with user created episodic content?

4-6 minutes is good as long as you keep us the viewers entertained!

Currently, the Holiday special is about 8 minutes. The cut we are scoring is pretty action packed. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

2-3 minutes top. But I don't think giving a specific lenght time it's even relevant, I mean... If your videos totally rock, then the viewer is going to be watching them for 30 minutes if they feel like it.

I don't think it's something you can "measure" as a good ranking factor

Yeah I'm taking the 'length watched' or 'minutes watched', algo change on YT seriously. Seeing best results with under 3 min. You could always leave annotations to re-direct more interested viewers to your longer content and use the short runs as a net to bring them in.

I am talking about length because I am the primary writer of the content. I am finding that quick hitting content gets more views and leads to other videos being watched. The Annotations are a good idea.
