So I have been working on my personal blog about my life situation lately, and I have noticed something. The blog is only a month old and I am averaging about 5 google searches per day. Nowhere near my biggest achievement in IM, and actually it's not even an IM blog. But I did realize that since all of my content is 100% original, that it is very easy to get google traffic. I only have 2 backlinks (which are both relevant to my content), so the 5 searches a day is pretty good considering that fact. My advise (which others have said a thousand times) is, start with original content, then work on backlinks and ect. I'm actually gonna scale it up now and see where I can go with it :)

You cannot beat original content whether for long term or short term results...

Doing this way you will never get hit by G as they cannot hit original content because if they did that, there would be chaos all over the SEs

Yea that's what google wants, real useful content. But it's the most difficult thing to acquire!

Cool. I've been experiencing the same with some of my later blogs too. I post original content on it daily and I don't do any backlinking (just share it on twitter, fb, and g+) until traffic starts coming in on its own. Once that happens, I add links in very slowly and my keywords start ranking page 1-2 right away. Normally with my MNS it takes a lot longer. I'm still experimenting to try and find out what exactly is causing this. One of my blogs is about 50 days old now and it's getting 20-30 uniques a day. I have backlinks from only about 20ish referring domains and most of it is just syndication of the content from my blog.

I hope you don't mind me asking how many posts per week you're adding?

Well, I haven't actually posted in at least 3 weeks, but I was posting weekly for 3 or 4 weeks. The thing is also, I havent even started sharing it on FB or anything, because honestly, the last thing I was worried about when I started it was ranking, but being fairly unknowledgable at seo, it kinda excites me and makes me want to try :)

This old dog is learning new tricks lol :D

I've done absolutely zero link-building on my site (with the exception of a companion Tumblr blog that came in long after the organic traffic started), and Google sends anywhere between 1500 and 10000 unique visitors a day. 100% unique writing and 100% unique images.

BUT there IS a downside to this. You don't have any sort of guarantee on whether Google will put a post on page 1. It's more or less a coin toss. The upside, of course, is that every time Google rolls out a new update, it can only get better for me.

In my opinion content is king. No modern search engine scrapes the meta tags in your sites anymore - it was abused horribly. The fact of the matter is that great content will always be king. A horribly written, original article will still win a duplicate article in my opinion.

Google is a bot, not a human, if they don't check your niche manually, any copyscape-passed content will suit.

Keep these motivation threads going 2011nfl... I love following you and steelballs around... As for as original content my site got hit back in April by one of the animals... Two of my friends told me to redo my site with original content or build a new site which I did both... My old site ranked for over 1400 keywords in the top 20 and after site go hit it went to under 300... I put new content one it and nothing else and today it's back to over 1000 in top 20 for all my inner pages...So I'm adding more pages and unique content...

Starting with the one your going to write for me later today... Thanks 2011nfl I consider you a true friend plus I have met a lot friends on BHW since I been here...

i am getting around 10 uniques(unique visitors, organic traffic from google) a day with 87 unique posts.thinking of scaling it up.
at nfl2011 howmany posts do you have?

For Good SERP results

first good quality content then backlinks

and then diversity

Good original content never killed anyone. I see a lot of posts where people take it for granted. I have to remind people that the very essence of google being started was because they wanted to have all the data that was online. Then they'd rank it. So the algo searches for data. If your data is new of course it would be considered better than if it is copied.

Original content is good for google, good for your readers and good for your pocket.

Well yeah, original content is the thing. Are you planning on monetizing your life?

87 unique posts and only 10 visits from Google a day. I'd be looking at a different niche.

A little, but not too much. At first I wasn't, but since it will help fund the cause I will be doing a little monetization. :)
