Hi, I bought an Instagram account that had 2k followers on. I got in fine and had access to the log in and the new email address that was created and linked to it.

However, when I go to uodate my phone number or email address it is sending a link to the orginal email that created the account and not the one that was given to me when I bought it and logged in.
They account seems good, but I don't want to use it and grow it if I can't update my information and also I'm worried the old user would be able to access everything since they are getting emails sent to them.
Has anyone had this problem before?

By default it shloudn't do like that .
Try this: add new email amd confirm it if you can, log out of all previous logins fom the account. Log out, leave it for 7 days, them logon and try to delete the original email.

Can you add new email besode the original one?

You could try using 2FA via the authenticator app. To avoid this issue.

Has the first suggestion worked? If I'm reading into that right, the original email shouldn't be receiving the confirmation when it's been replaced already.

Thank you for your replied. I'm going to try log in with the email in a few days as the account won't let me do security checks now as it says I'm using a new email that it doesn't normally use. So need to keep it low key. I linked my Facebook account to it hoping it would do the security check with Facebook instead but it wanted to still send to the old email. I'll update in a few days.
Thanks for the help
