Hi I'm just busy backlinking my first 'batch' of sites that I plan to rent out but am just wondering about something... For local search terms please can anyone provide any data re: the number of clicks received by a top 3 organic listing in comparison to being one of the Google places listings. Does it vary much if you are top of the Google places listing vs being lower down. I have been looking for a while and can't find any info relating to this Cheers!!! BHB
In my experience the results have been mixed. For some niches the places listings get the hits, but for others the listings are ignored and the organic results are best. There are still a lot of people who ignore the places listings for whatever reason. The best thing I can recommend is to test test test and see what happens...
I don't have enough sites to give concrete data but in general the maps listing will lower the organic listing visit count. This is assuming we are talking about #1 in both organic and maps.
You are looking at it the wrong way, it doesnt matter who gets MORE clicks than the other...having a maps section gives you another place where you can be first and if you are 1st in places and organic, who cares which one of them people will click more if you know what i mean...
A company I work with utilizes city names in it's websites, so there Google Places account does very well. It all depends on what kind of services you are offering, to be able to truly realize if places works better than organic clicks. If you can base keywords on city, county, state terms... you will most likely have something to work with.
That data is hard to quantify. Sites I promote that have double listings aren't on top for every google places listing in the surrounding area.
Hey blackhatbill, you wouldn't happen to be following the plan laid out on that internet street fighter webinar would you?
