Organic KW search Question

hi guys thanks for all your input you're helping me out so much.

Lets say i have a key word "jokes" and its easy. Pretend its got a KW difficulty of say 20.

This is an organic google search only question. Pretend everything else does not exist and the only factor that will affect rank is this. I'm trying to isolate an issue here.

will creating an article with a title like the ones below with a number in front of it and text behind it affect the ranking for that keyword?

15 jokes that will make you laugh
20 jokes you cant live without
23 jokes played on people in the past

or should i be trying to use "jokes" alone?

Try both, and interlink the content.

Putting numbers and triggering words in title always help with CTR. And once you have good CTR %, that definitely helps to boost rankings.

is the general concept for SEO like to barrage google with ideas. See what sticks, learn, refactor and then repeat this process slowly narrowing down what works and what does not?

Those titles look good, I would definitely use them.
