I’d like to briefly share my situation. First of all, I apologize for any writing mistakes — I’m Brazilian and using a translator.
From 2020 (at the start of the pandemic) until February of this year, I was working with a Brazilian platform that allowed users to create news articles and earn a share of the ad revenue. The CPM wasn’t very high, but I was making more than a minimum wage each month. One good thing about it was that it didn’t differentiate clicks by country — a click from Bolivia was worth the same as one from the United States.
My business model was simple: I have eight Facebook accounts and I’m a member of neighborhood groups from all around the world, mainly across Latin America. I would find the latest local news on Google, copy and paste it into the platform, and credit the original source at the end of the article.
For example: if there was a news story two hours ago about a robbery in the Copacabana neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, I would copy the article, paste it into the site, credit the source, and then share the link in Facebook groups related to that neighborhood. Today, I’m probably a member of over 2,000 groups covering more than 200 neighborhoods.
Everything was going well until February this year, when the site owner shut down the platform and deleted all his social media accounts, making it impossible to contact him. To make things worse, he also didn’t pay out earnings for January.
After that, I started searching for new ways to keep earning money using the same strategy. Since this was my only source of income, I currently can’t afford to buy a custom domain, so I’m using Blogger’s free domain instead.
Unfortunately, most ad networks don’t accept Blogspot domains, so I’m using Adsterra. However, since most of the groups I post in are from Latin American countries, my CPM is very low.
I’d really appreciate any suggestions for other platforms that would allow monetization with a Blogger domain — or any other tips you might have. Thank you so much in advance!
