In one of my IM projects, I developed a website in quite a general niche (huge niche), and wrote by myself about 100 unique and high quality articles. The design of a website is also beautiful. All the articles are perfectly interlinked and categorized, indexed, etc..
However, the site does not rank for anything (even not for longtails, it has practically zero traffic), despite the fact that the articles were written back in December 2011 and January 2012. (with one or two more added every month)
I have no time for building backlinks for this website and do not want to invest in someone building it for it (it was meant to be an authority domain, so link building for all the pages would be too expensive/time consuming). In fact, I do not want to concentrate on it too much, as there are many other projects in IM/ outside IM that I am more interested to develop.
So, what would you do with such a site? I came in my mind to the following options, but am not very happy with any...
1. Sell a site on Flippa. The problem is that the site makes no money. I do not want to fool anyone, therefor with real stats I doubt anyone would buy it for a normal price... Then, I do not want to sell the site I have some "personal relation" to and know that it is very useful for visitors for $100 or something...
2. Turn the site to Autoblog, and see what it does. I never did auto-blogging. However, I read in some threads that combination of unique articles and the non-unique one can make a good combination. The idea would be to increase the page count to minimum of thousand and hope that the site somehow gets that authority boost and starts to rank for the unique content. (Anyone having experience with similar experiments?) On the other hand, I know this is risky, plus Adsense would not be an option later...
3. Simply let the site to get older. I believe in age of a domain being a huge factor in rankings. However, if I just let the domain to get older without doing nothing, I am not really sure it will change anything, will it???
4. Gift the site to someone who can focus on it as on a priority project. Maybe some people have better resources for mass link building and/or can take this site as a priority project and make decent money from it. That's why I am thinking about gifting it to someone. But then again... if I give it to someone for free, he may as well not care enough for it (getting things for free often leads to this), and abandon the site completely. That would be something what would make me really sad.
If you were in my situation, for what option would you go? Or would you do something completely different? Maybe some of you are even in the same situation. Let's share some ideas here... Thanks.
