Optimizing Your Yelp Page

Looked around for another thread about this but couldn't find one.

I had a client ask me today, how can I get ranked at the top of Yelp?

I wasn't sure of the answer, but figured someone on here has run into this before.

So the question is, what does Yelp SEO look like?

What I do is try to get as many reviews on the yelp page with the keywords you are targeting. Then run a regular link building campaign to that page with your anchored text (using SENuke, Scrapebox, etc).

Was able to rank my client's yelp page in literally a day with this method. *by the way, this is to get ranked in the Google SERPs. For yelp's own internal system, I think you just need a lot of relevant reviews.

Were did you buy the reviews from? I got a guy from fiverr but yelp deleted all the reviews he posted and some. I want to build a reputation online, so i will try this again. Any idea why would yelp delete reviews posted from that fiverr seller?
 
I think Yelp works where the reviews need to be within a certain proximity of the business.
 
Yelp has a very sophisticated review system which is hard to game. One of the things they do is to look for review trends. If you have zero or just a few reviews, and then start adding reviews suddenly, they will remove or hold back some of them back...even if they are from different users and ip's.. It's not like Citysearch where you can just post a ton of fake reviews. 50% of the reviews on that site are bogus. There are those out there that specialize in Yelp marketing.
 
The reviews should be easy enough from the client. If they can't supply relevant reviews for a local brick and mortar then how do they stay in business and will they be able to complete payment when you deliver results.

Besides, on local reviews there are some key people in every area that review alot. I would think they would be easy targets for reviewing your client with some type of offer. Then your client will have reviews from "centers of influence" people that are known and valued in the community.

I totally agree. Take it slow at first and recheck each of the reviews before you post it. Make sure it's concrete, has all the details and is concise. Then it'll start showing up more and more. Also, check-in to the place more and more often.
