optimizing your website - PageSpeed Insights vs. GTMetrix

I am trying to optimize my website. According to google developers pagespeed insights I got a score of 97 for mobile devices and a 100 for desktop devices

On gtmetrix on the other hand I got a pagespeedscore F(46%) and Yslowscore B(81%)

how do I interprete these different outcomes? why do they differ so much?

I prefer GtMetrix more than others. Most of those things you get in the report you can fix all alone, just copy-paste on google that error and you will find a fix.

But I have this issue that they say Serve scaled images F(0) but Iam already using the wp plugin smushed and bulked all my images down. so according to smushed they is nor further improvement possible
 
Google count the mist for ranking. How long does it take for your page to load?
 
Gtmetrix servers are in Canada as far as I know. If your host is far from that place and you dont use CDN you will easily get higher numbers.

If you have some sort of caching implemented, try few mrasurements in line and make an average of them.

And if your visitors come mostly from google search, mind google's lighthouse.

You can change it to Dallas and test it from there. Mostly you will get better results.

Well, I didn't want to register there until the last month... that's when I figured that I can change the servers :weep:

'Serve scaled images' can't be fixed with smushing. Every grid/image holder has different size requirements, which means you need to find out the correct size for each holder and re-size the images accordingly.

Click the down arrow and it will tell you which images arent being served correctly.

so uploading and using only images with 1280x720 would solve this issue?
I also have the issue that the thumbnails of the posts have differnet sizes. is this maybe related to this issue?

The image has to be uploaded to wordpress in the size its eventually displayed at. If the image shows up on a post in 1200x500 then the actual image should be that size so it doesn't have to be scaled.

Search console will show the actual data speeds from real users on their devices in their countries that are accessing your site. Pungdom, Gt, google. These all show perfect scenarios of connections plugged into a wall or server. Not from real people walking around the city accessing your site on their mobiles.
 
That's weird.pagespeed is always lower than gtmetrix for me. Most people don't agree with pagespeed result
 
Pagespeed Insights is the best as it gives you the aggregated data from people visiting your site on Chrome. The total scores mean nothing but the web vitals (the metrics with the blue buttons) are the most important.
