Optimizing Placement and Wording for Max. Conversios?

I paid a blogger to place a link at the end of his article for my cpa offer (with a sentence befoe the link reccomending it and aying what it is). The niche of the blog is the same as the niche for my cpa (its a ppd). So I assumed I would have a ton of clicks, however after 500 hits on the blog today, I dont have a single click on my link. I verfied the link was working many times, then I tried giving myself a click and that registered so I dont think its a technical issue.

What did I do wrong?
How can I optimize link placement for max conversions?
