Optimizing for Google news

My news website is around 2 years old, and getting around 10k unique visits from Google. Even though the site has been approved for Google news over a year, I'm only getting a couple of clicks a day from Google news.

Any strategies on getting more traffic from Google news?

With news, it about the timing most of the time. Of course, the content needs to be on point but you need to release them as soon as you can. Have your writers post them to social media and subreddits. The bigger subreddits, it's like hitting the lottery if you're the first to post a specific story there.
