I tried my best optimizing this website, but this is my current results and I hope someone can suggest me how to get at least yellow/green light in Google Test. (Mobile is 58/100 and Desktop is 64/100)
I also used Gtmetrix (page speed is 91% and YSlow is 82%, Page load time is 3,3s and Total Page Size is 8.31Mb) and Webpagetest. Do you believe it is a good score?

most of the time hosting on vps speeds up site by 90%
Back in the golden days, we were optimizing images like hell, making the html the shortest possible.
Nowadays with one page paralax websites and video backgrounds, i dont know what people are still talking about.
I mean, of course it is still possible to optimize a page, but just the ton of .js and every kinda plugin will take several megabytes of data.
Best method i think:
notepad + make your own code without third party plugins, without embedding unnecessary flashy things.
a simple html + css website can be stunning if its well made, and its less than 1mb.

You have 8 MB for your homepage. I think for a photography website like yours, you should consider:
- Optimizing images by considerably reduce the number of image sizes, by drastically lowering the JPEG quality, reduce the image resolutions and utilize a lossless compression.
- Changing your hosting from the shared slow worthless hosting you are using now to a powerful VPS or even a dedicated server.
- Reduce the number of plugins used.
- Utilise a WordPress caching plugin like W3 Total Cache
- Utilise lazy loading - may be a problem with the search engines today(!), but nobody knows this for sure
If you want to stay with your cheap but horrible shared hosting for such kind of websites, you can do that too, but you have to apply everything else and you may still not get good results.
Another way may be to pay someone to use a custom CMS other than WordPress which should be way more lighter, but way more limited too.
Another option may be to use a paid service for hosting and providing you with a ready built-in CMS, and basically all-in-one thing like Squarespace, but you'll have to drastically optimize your images again as people with slower connections both on desktop and mobile may still struggle, not because the server will be slow, but because you try to serve them horribly big in size images.
