Optimise for Google Ads or find a new network?

My site focuses on the history and culture of a country that doesn't have a lot of content about it in English. I'm a foreigner living in that country and have managed to create a decent amount of content and therefore traffic. I've been using various techniques like Keyword Golden Ratio, low volume searches and so on to build a solid foundation over the last year or so.

Several months ago I decided to half-assedly start putting Google Ads on there to generate a bit of income. I'm getting on average 375 organic hits a day, which is generating me about $50USD a month. Not a lot, but better than a kick in the guts.

FWIW this site and project is just a bit of fun, but if I can squeeze a little more money out of it, I'll double down on the content creation.

I've done a little affiliate marketing (travel packages, car rentals etc), but it's not resulted in anything - the time on page is quite low, so people aren't scrolling through I guess. I considered a Print On Demand store selling novelty items, but setting up such a business model is too much investment for something that's still just a bit of fun at the moment.

I'm at the crossroads of what to do - find a new premium ad network that will help me generate more (given that what I'm generating now isn't a lot), or create more content and just keep it going the way I am.

If I were to go to a new ad network, what's something that would suit my niche?

you know you can have more than 1 ads network right? why limit to one?
well my suggestion is try to optimize your site more, to get more organic hits. thinking about ad network at that stage is just you have more thing to worry about.
