Optimal amount followings

For a optimal followback, how many followings should I try to keep my account at?

Ive noticed a greater followback rate when my account has less than 2000 followings, the higher my following count went the lower my followback rate went. I am at 9.8k followers currently. When I had 0 followings i would have a rate of about 40%, when i got up to around 4k, it was down to about 33%, then after 6k it was 25%. So pretty much the lower your followings the better followback rate (in my experience, maybe not for everyone)

It's the opposite for me. The moment my account got up to 5k, the followback rate went to 50-70%. Below 5k, it was just 20-30%. But I still believe it depends on the niche and the quality of your photos.
