Opinions please on EMD domain .com vs .shop

About to build out a rank n rent website.

this is just an example but it's close enough to get an idea:

officechairshop.com vs officechair.shop

It will be an exact match domain with the .shop version but the .com would have the additional word of "shop" in it.

Which is best and why?

Shop and rank n rent don't go together at first glance. When rank n rent is implied first classifieds ad sites come to my mind...

It will be an actual online shop, we have a target buyer for once it's ranked. Hope the helps clarify.

Oh now I get it. If you want to use Word "shop" I think go with .shop extension. But I think you might want to create a brandable domain rather than EMD , there are good extensions like .co for example.

I personally use the .site extension. 10x times cheaper than .com in Year 1 so you can launch more web sites.
