Opinions : Best AntiVirus

I use ESET Smart Security. Works like a champ for me.
 
Being in the security business I would say for free use AVAST (I don't work for them by the way). AVG let me down big time in the past. I would also have a copy of Malwarebytes installed on all machines just in case.

However, no security software is a 100% and that's just the nature of technology and security. For 99.9% protection run Windows 7 under a Virtualbox session on Ubuntu 10.x. We are talking bulletproof protection!
 
Kapersky and definetley NOT Norton. Norton took 98% of my CPU resources on my old XP machine.
 
avast free version + malwarebytes (the new avast sux)

as of late added spybot s&d

i put those 3 on all my clients boxes
