Opinion/Suggestion Needed - Expired Domain

Hello everyone,

So I need a little bit of perspective & opinion from BHW experts regarding how one should consider an expired domain as a quality expired domain.

Here is an example. I found this domain and its available for regular registration fee i.e. $10

Check its backlink stats and archive histoy

Now as you can see the website was redirected to a japanese site plus it seems to be used as PBN blog as well. However the original backlinks are still intact plus there seems to be no new link building done on the domain during the "redirect + PBN blog" period


So my questions are

1. Is it a good expired domain in your opinion?
2. Will you use it to 301 redirect to your money site?
3. Lets say an expred domain (x.com) was redirected to some site (a.com) for 3 years and then the redirection was removed. Does the domain (x.com) still pass link juoce if we redirect the same domain to some new domain (b.com) ?

With that info you are missing one important thing: the spaminess of the link profile .
Good % of the time when there is a jap redirect/pbn in between it means that it has been burned out

How many totals domains are linking? (if there are like 200-300 domains for just 10 or 12 good domains, could be an example of spammed/nuked site)
I like to check also, how is the anchor text distributed? (and what are the most popular anchor text, if there is a massive amount of Japanese anchors, i dismiss it)

And also there is a simple test that may help you keep or dismiss the domain instantly: check in google with the site command.
 
Not my area of expertise (301s and presumably sketchy old domains) but it feels like there is something that could be learned from all of this. Maybe check its RDs and backlinks with another tool if that is an option? Majestic catches a lot of stuff that Ahrefs doesn't and vice versa (not saying those 2 are the end-all be-all but its what I use). @SirLouen brings up a lot of good points.

There was no japanese anchors and there was no link building done. The expired domain has 21 dofoll0w domains linking to it and all those 21 links seems to be good and non -spammy
 
Stay away from this domain.
First: If you want to test how such spammed domain will work for 301, you should go for domain with 200-300 RDs and links from basically every news media out there. If there is redirect to Japanese / it was PBN in the past you can get it for like under $30 at the auctions. No one bid them, so you can win the auction pretty cheap.

If you want to be available for registration then again - you can easily find with 50-100 RDs, pretty good links, as long as you dont care for the spam.

This particular domain is not worth the registration price, even if is NOT spammed. Now? Fuck no.

its a very old expired domain...6, 7 years old...Google isnt showing any results with site:domain.com command

Maybe I'm wrong, but 100% of the expired domains I acquire have to pass this test.
If it doesn't appear it can possible mean that it has been deindexed which is relatively good (but all the old links will have to be reindexed also, and check if G bot is going pass them and accessing your site with a 200)
Or it can mean that it has been penalized. It depend a lot for how much time it has been under 500 or 404. But if you check historic and it has been for more than 12 months under 4xx or 5xx error codes, then it could have been deindexed

Expired available for registration in the vast majority of cases are out of the index (so nothing at site:domain). This is not a problem per se, as usually once you put the nameservers the domain get back in the index. If its indexed its just a nice bonus and guarantee that the domain is not penalized.

Check the anchor cloud instead of DR.
DR is simple to manipulate and haven't any influence on ranking.

no anchor text are not related..

Its a non-relevant expired domain with 4 5 strong links from top authority sites
 
Try Majestic for a chance and the Trust factor / Citation factor. (If you don't have an account, PM me your site and I'll help with the results and perhaps some comment).

If it has a TF of 20+, I would definitely consider it. For 10 or less, it's usually not worth the money.

Meh, links are all thats matter, not shitty 3rd party metrics, especially Majestic.
