Opinion: Subdomain or clasic /webfolder ?

I check a lot of big websites and they use subdomain ... why ?
Are better for seo too use subdomain ? example: product1.site.com or are better the classic way site.com/product1 ?
Any ideea why they use this way ?
Someone with experience may explain ?

Usually some sites use subdomains when either

a) using another cms, like a "shop" subdomain with shopify for example.
b) separating the blog from the main site
c) pages focused solely on ads
d) separating languages

A subdomain is treated as a separate entity/site than the main one so it would not have any distinct SEO benefits.

I think its a trick somewhere... to be honest... i think subdomain rank much better then subdomain

Nope, no tricks, subfolders is a better choice SEO wise. @tattooedbuddha gave you the proper answer above.
