ok so I am looking to run my own online business

however I am unsure if this will work long time so is there a way i can test out before officially registering as a company ?

can I basically just choose a host register a domain and start selling for a bit. if so what's the safe way to do it if this can be asked

Just sell through Shopify. I'm sure you won't get in trouble if you sell 10-20 items before opening company

For sure no need to register a company. Everything can be ran under your own name for now. Go get it!!

Well tax and laws change country to country..

If you have a job... you can sell unto a small amount as a personal allowance on Ebay as an example without any issues. Once you start doing volume Ebay will pass on your details anyway or ask for business information so then would be a natural time to move up.

IF you just want to test the market I would trade for 2-3 months under your own name to test the market if you think it has legs go with it.

However any business has risk. IF you really want to make a business work commit to it get it off the ground and start operating and get it set up now. If you have little faith in it now I can't see it working sorry - running a business is all about risk..

IF you are worried about product and investment. Do what I do.

Sell it on eBay no risk on the platform you can start with just 1 product and use it to:

- find an image that works for your customers
- description and wording that customers are happy to take a risk on you with
- experiment with price points and delivery costs
- test out new product lines

I done that for a few months myself till I found a pricing point and product line that works for me and my customers been going 6 years this October and I still test every new product line the same way.
