Opening Google.com from outside US

Most of you might already know but just a info for someone who dont know

if you are in out side us , usually when you will do google.com it will go for your country like google.xx and will atuomatically direct to your country

example

google.ie
google.co.uk

etc


A quick solution is type

Code:

  google.com/ncr

and it will not direct .

Thanks. There is also a plugin called global google for firefox that lets you search from different countries.

google.com/ncr not provide 100% accuracy of the real US search results. (for example, there's no adwords ad displayed on keywords that normally have tons of local US advertisers)

What you want to do is use web proxy that's based in US and type in google.com from there. You can see all the adwords ads too there and the SERP results are pretty accurate (very similar/the same with market samurai rank tracker for example)

Yes accessing google.com from outside US will get re-directed to country-specific google domain. But there will be a link to "go to google.com" at the right bottom.
google.com/ncr does work with all country-specific google domains. you can access google.co.uk/ncr , google.com.au/ncr etc., NCR stands fort No Country Redirect.
Its good to see how our KW / site ranked in specific country.

It will still pull results from your closest datacenter and mostly display search results relevant to your region.

Another option is to add the Geolocation identifier at the end of Search string. For example, after searching for any keyword, add "&gl=us" to the end of the search string and hit enter.
This would return results from US when you were searching from outside US.

This doesn't redirect but still gives you pretty localized results. The only difference is that you don't get to see the google.co.extension in the address bar. UK and US results are still very different when you check with the ad preview tool
