OpenClaw + Reddit

Hey everyone,

I need some technical guidance from people experienced with automation + LLM setups.

Currently, I have 4 iPhones (each with separate SIMs) connected to my computer. I’m using OpenClaw with Gemma 4 as the LLM to automate actions on these devices.

Right now, the limitation I’m facing is that everything works only at a very low level (manual command style). For example, if I want to scroll, I have to explicitly send a command like:

So the system only executes direct instructions — it doesn’t understand higher-level intent.

What I actually want is something much smarter, like:

• “Open Reddit”
• “Scroll until you find a cat image”
• “Upvote it”
• “Find a top-performing comment”
• “Reply with a human-like funny response”

Basically, full natural-language → action automation across apps.

My questions:

• Is this limitation coming from the LLM (Gemma 4 not being capable enough)?
• Or is it more of an OpenClaw limitation (no proper skill/action layer)?
• Does OpenClaw support creating custom “skills” or action chains for this kind of use case?
• How would you architect this so the bot can translate natural language into multi-step phone actions?

Would really appreciate if someone can guide me on how to level this up from command-based control to intelligent automation.

your setup is missing a layer that translates intent into action. OpenClaw is basically doing exactly what you tell it, it’s not built to plan multi step tasks on its own.

Is that the problem with openclaw or on my LLM? Whats the problem.
If i asked chatgpt about my problem it says: there is no ability for any model to look on your screen also it dont know what is Reddit.
But some doing it. Can you elaborate on what im missing

How are you using adb exec on iOS devices?

can you share more details about your setup? i can tell whats wrong if i know more details.

Im using on android phones

1. Ollama v2026.3.31
- Running locally on PC
- Models installed: gemma4:latest (9.6 GB)

2. OpenClaw v2026.4.15
- Installed via npm
- Gateway running on ws://127.0.0.1:18789
- Plugins loaded: acpx, browser, device-pair, phone-control, talk-voice, telegram

3. Telegram Bot
- Connected to OpenClaw gateway

4. Android Phone
- USB debugging enabled
- Connected via USB cable (no WiFi)
- ADB working: adb devices shows device

WHAT WORKS:

- OpenClaw gateway starts without errors
- Telegram bot responds to messages
- Gemma 4 loads and replies
- ADB commands work via exec tool
- Phone control plugin loaded


WHAT DOESN'T WORK (NEED HELP):

1. Gemma 4 cannot "see" screen (vision not working)
2. Cannot detect upvote counts or comment counts from screen
3. Cannot loop actions (forgets count after 2-3 iterations)
4. Cannot parse XML from uiautomator dump
5. Skills I create don't load properly
6. No ChatGPT integration (Gemma generates replies, but want ChatGPT)
7. "Turn on flashlight" type commands don't work

WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE:
(Basically i need this to warmup my reddit accs)

1. Natural language control: "scroll until you see a cat"
2. Detect posts with <10 upvotes and <4 comments
3. Upvote 5 low-upvote posts automatically
4. Generate human like comment to farm comment karma
5. Everything runs on PC, controlled via Telegram

just map all the things correctly and make a new skill so any model or openclaw can do this .

I don't think you can beat reddit with clankers. They have clankers and ai too, and hella big budget they are the ones that OWN the system. You are a mere unwanted dangle berry in their eyes, and your accounts will never sustainably be reliable.

Keep trying though, you'll learn something maybe. (that might be the idea to know what and when to quit. Thats where I think many people go wrong, instead of pushing boulders up and over mountains, they push them round roundabouts endlessly, cause its an easy dopamine hit of work. Its not REAL QUALITY work though.)

I believe that noobs, and even pros have no chance against big tech when it comes to spamming, and botting. The signals you give off are too easy to catch. You'll spend years of your life going round in circles, trying to circumvent someone's system (reddit) only to discover its of very little use.

Unless you just plan to farm accounts and then sell them to noobs that have been banned so they can buy your accounts, get banned too, and complain to you you sold them a faulty product.

Why else are you mucking about building bots to upvote cat pics? lol build something of value. Push yourself to greater heights of invention. You can find a few of these on github already, and like i say you are trying to outsmart a 100Million+ company, lol So whats the point.

If you actually ahve something to market you don't need clankers to upvote cat pics, you can just post in the right place, and get advertisment eyeballs on your assets your promoting.

the reason i mentioned cats is just for example. i just want open claw to warmup reddit with my own method. also im not going to sell all these acc.

You can always go to a site like replit and tell it your ideas/parameters and let it design/formulate something you want/similar to what you want and build from there with your setup.

I’d look for Appium + adb automation rather than wasting resources on a locally deployed LLM. Idk if Appium will work with Reddit but it’s definitely worth checking out.

P.S. I think this is not the right section for this post.

Your right. If i don't have a team of people, a business generating 10's of millions, hundreds of millions in assets in compute power, and all I was doing was sitting myself with my computer and a clanker and an Ai API sub, worth at most $300-500 a month. Then yes, It would make sense for me to underestimate myself don't you think?

You have to understand that one of my fevorite songs starts with "I'm a one man army..." lol I believe you CAN beat the big guns, but you can't do it by acting spamming and noobing it like your some sort of million/billion dollar blackhat hacker in the making.

You havn't obviously been through as much failure as me when it comes to success. Thats why you think I'm negative instead of just realistic ( and bell weathered) . Don't worry you'll get your chance to change your mind soon enough from failure if you keep working hard enough! lol

I wrote about a solution I have where you give an agent a real google chrome browser through a customized OS fork.

There is no stealth because its the real browser and the actions are humanized correctly.

But it's actually real google chrome straight from google, not a fork so it's signal is very strong.

Chromium forks are very different in their reporting so mostly get flagged.

Would you want to learn more?

Agents are much better working with the web they understand how to navigate it through something like playwright mcp really well, success rates are nearly 100% on most tasks including social media auotmation. Working for me.
