NOW .. Openai Says GoodBye .. No more Sora ..

OpenAI announced on March 24, 2026, that it is discontinuing its AI video generation tool, Sora, only six months after launching it as a stand-alone app and a popular 2025 update, Sora 2.

So I heard sora closing down....... is there anything that can create images and videos from prompts that is as good as sora?

Does anybody know whether you'll still be able to create the same types of images within chat GPT?

openai just killed the sora app and the api to focus on their enterprise stuff so the disney deal is dead too. for video alternatives right now google's veo 3.1 or kling ai are probably the closest things that can handle similar physics and clip lengths. as for images you don't have to worry, they only pulled the plug on the heavy video generation because it was melting their gpus, the standard ai image generator inside chatgpt is staying exactly the same.

Personally, I don't think the image generator inside chat GPT is as good as Sora....... but that's just from my experience playing around with it.

Demand will bring it back, maybe not through chatgpt, we might be stuck with veo, and the chinese models like kling for the time being. People will miss making diddy and epstein videos! lol So SOMEONE will sort the problem out! lol

yeah saw that too, not really surprising.

sora had a lot of hype, but the cost and legal side were always going to be issues. video generation at scale isn’t cheap, and copyright problems were bound to catch up.

feels more like they’ll integrate it into other tools later instead of killing it completely.

AI space moves fast; what’s hot today can disappear just as quickly.

Main reasons people are pointing to are huge compute cost weak monetization falling usage and safety copyright pressure, while the video capabilities are likely being folded into broader cgpt style multimodal products instead of staying as a separate app

You can use genfluence AI for pictures.
