Open Source Web Apps/Scripts - Suggest your ideas!

Hello World.

I know I''m new here and this is my first post, but trust me; I mean business. I'm a web designer/developer and long time lurker (Been lurking for over 3 years and I finally made an account). I wouldn't call myself a professional yet, but I also wouldn't say I'm new to all this/suck at it. Basically, the whole point of this thread is to help out the online community by providing a free open source web script that people want and by helping myself by building my skill as a designer/developer.

Let's get to the point, now that all that's out of the way.

I'd like to ask the BHW community for ideas for a new project I have yet to start. I'm going to create a free open-source web application, but I just don't know what the purpose of the project should be. The goal is to provide you, the BHW, community with a useful web app that will not go to waste. This is the part where you guys come in, I need suggestions from actual people online of what to code.

My creative juices aren't really flowing right now, so I needed to ask the community. I was thinking of a GPT/PTC, but those have become outdated and irrelevant. Without wasting anymore time, let's watch the suggestions roll in!

Below please post any suggestions you have for a free open-source web application/script that you would find useful and actually use yourself. Other significant details such as script features or sites similar to the script would be helpful, but a simple suggestion is still great.

Once I have decided on a web app/script to create I will code and design it and release it exclusively on BHW. It will be FREE and OPEN-SOURCE. If I see a great use of the app/script from the community I will continue to update the app/script.

Thanks for the support GaurayJ. I'm slowly analyzing the latest threads/posts to see what the current "needs" are.

Maybe some sort of Niche Site Builder? This would be a sort-of beefed up CMS that has features specific to niches, seo, article building, etc. This is just an idea I just had. I don't know if there is something like this out there, but from what I've read in the past it would be an easy way to build sites for IM.

Let me know of your thoughts on the above ideas or any suggestions you may have!

If you can truly create one then I definitely gotta give kudos up to you, you will go very far (both skill and money wise). If you're looking to start it out free then start making bucks out of it, i'd suggest you follow thru with that niche-site builder idea. Pretty much everyone can see that atleast 50% of BHW is stuck on the whole niche-site/seo craze, so you'll definitely see some nice $$$ if you make one. But i like your idea of starting out free, I'd suggest you make a journey thread or something maybe, to keep track of it all.

Okay, so that is a +1 for a niche-site-builder. Thanks PolluxOR! I agree that I see tons, I mean tons, of niche site threads and such. Maybe, I can go into more brainstorming about a niche-site-builder if I see more interest in this type of script.

Of course, I will start an official thread once I decide on the script purpose.

As for my projects so far. I've been creating tons of one script pages just to boost my skill, nothing worth releasing. I was coding a GPT script that was better than Shiftcode, but I've long abandoned it since Shiftcode lowered their prices and GPTs went out of style. I was also the web dev of a forum and GPT, but the owner of those didnt know how to manage everything and just abandoned the sites.


I know people don't want to share ideas, because they're their ideas, but I ask for your guys and gals opinion because I want to code an app/script that will be useful to BHW.

Bump. This will be the last bump of this thread. If no suggestions are made after this I'll forget about this thread. lol

Been thinking up some ideas this week, but none have been good enough to actually start coding.
