A number of years ago I had some good tools for scanning IP ranges for open relays namely "Open Relay List Checker".

The software is not available on the site anymore and I can't find it anywhere on the web.

Does anyone know of a similar tool that will test/scan a range of IP's?

Why would you even want to do that? Any SMTP server with open relay isn't going to stay white listed for very long. Within 24 - 48 hours, it's going to end up on a blacklist, so your messages won't get inboxed anyway.

As far as I know, any scanner which does a HELO will be enough. It takes very long to scan whole ip ranges, though, so without ditributed scanning (botnet) you will not be very successful.
However, I do not recommend using open relays as, in most cases, they are blacklisted everywhere and basically unreliable. If you want to spam, just let someone else do the sending.

    kind regards,
