Onpage Wordpress SEO

Right I've come back to the whole autoblog thing having had a few ideas I'd like to try out. I have a niche, I have some content, and I've started the blog ticking away building itself.

Now I've set someone off building backlinks, so my next thing is the onpage seo stuff.

This is where I really struggle, I just don't get my head round it. I searched, I've read, and it still scrambles my brain. Don't know why, I can code in most languages, but somethings just don't click for me (foreign languages have the same effect)

Can anybody point me at a simple wordpress orientated step by step guide to SEO, I've found several on the web, most of which involved paid plugin (i.e. have something to sell), if people are doing there sites regular, they must have some basic checklists or something. Anybody able to give me some guidelines?

Firstly (its pretty much a standard) make sure to set the permalinks. This will allow you to have stronger URL since it will contain the title of the post therefore some keywords.
Then install the "All in one SEO pack" plugin. Take a look at the settings yourself. If something is unclear ask here. Finally, install the "SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2" plugin. This plugin will embed the keyword that the visitor used to search in search engines and found your site. This is pretty useful. I saw somebody here suggesting it (sorry can't find the thread) and when I installed it, it helped me get few more visitors.

Thanks, like the Search Terms Tagging, that's a new one, should help if\when people start finding me through the search engines.

Very good step by step, I must be better than I thought I'd done about 30-50% of the recommendations, just a bit of file editing to sort the others out.

Hey, that sounds like a great plugin. I try to stay on top of cool plugins but I hadn't heard of that one.

Anybody recommend and decent auto tagging plugins? I've got the content, been feed from an RSS, but the keywords for the SEO comes from the Tags, which I don't have yet? Would be great if something could analyze each post and create tags?

Hey guys. Yes it a pretty good plugin. It does help... You can also customize the number of keywords phrases to show in posts and in the main page.
