Yes, maybe it not necessary to do all steps because of SEO, but by doing all these steps you are giving better content to visitors.

Depends of image, but in most cases kraken will cut few more bytes from each image.
Simply try it - save image from photoshop and look how many KBs it has, then upload it to kraken and compare what you get.

You should try to use only basic plugins as each wordpress plugin will slow WP load time.
For example all social plugins could be inserted directly in WP theme.

Here is my list:

For caching:
- DB Cache Reloaded Fix
- Hyper Cache

Security:
- Limit Login Attempts
- Or you can add password on wp-admin from cpanel

SEO:
- yoast
- Simple Sitemap (to make html sitemap page)

Depends of site structure I often use some of these:
- WP-PostRatings
- Wordpress Popular Posts
- SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2
- Yet Another Related Posts Plugin with YARPP Experiments
- NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster (pro version)
 
Good content but I absolutely despise sites that charge for samples. *Especially* sites that charge MORE than what the samples are actually worth. If anything, they should be sold at a reduced rate, or done for free at a limited amount. Or with limited conditions.

Look at SEO Spy Glass or Ahrefs or The Best Spinner. They're all good business models. They understand how the real world works.

In the real world, when people want to buy a car, they ALWAYS want to take that car for a test drive.

Imagine owning a car dealership, where you don't allow potential buyers to test drive your vehicles?
You'd go out of business fairly fast.

Now compound that basic concept with the fact this is a DIGITAL SERVICE. It just wreaks of greed and bad business practices.

business model. Program a piece of software that works like link detox, or better. Then offer limited samples or conditions so people can use the shit before they buy it. That way people get a taste of what they're paying for, before they pay for it. It will also increase the chances X1000 that people share your software with friends, since their friends can test drive the software as well.

And if anyone knows of any services like link detox, that offer free test drives. Please let me know.
If not, I may just find a programmer and develop my own program that offers free demos.

Again, it is the best to look what other sites in top 10 do.
If their KW density is under 1%, do the same.

Because algoritm is different for different niches.
 
One of the best On-page pointers i have seen till now :)
