Onpage Over Optimization.

I believe I'm having problems with over optimization of my keywords.

Let's say my keyword is "best fujifilm camera" I have that keyword show in title, desc and body 2-3 times and that's fine, however the word "best" + "camera" appear too many times due to having several articles following similar keywords / titles where I change only the brand and my related posts plugin shows 5 posts with "best" + "camera" in every single posts so those 2 words show up way more than they should in all the articles...

I believe this has lead to over optimization.

I have no idea what I can do to fight this though since I need the titles to be like that to target these keywords.

Have you considered using an LSI keyword in its place? So, if for example you find that the word "best" appears too many times across your website, you can switch that word out in some of your articles for a word like "greatest".

Well that would completely change the keyword though. I did use a few LSI but there's still too many "camera" keywords and a few too many "best" since my related plugin links to 5 other posts with "best" in them as well increasing the density

Ah, sorry, I missed the part where you said you need the titles like that to target the keywords.

I suppose if the related posts plugin is linking to those pages and increasing your keyword density, one option is to remove the plugin and do the interlinking manually, however that can be tedious.

Another option is to use the related posts plugin I use. It's called Contextual Related Posts, and it has a setting that allows you to omit certain posts from being displayed as related posts.

Interesting, will test that and will try restraining related posts from 5 to 3, should decrease the density quite well.

PS: My keyword was stuck in #4 and #17 for the past month, I changed some words around and edited some of the high density keywords and it jumped to #2 and #10 in less than a day

I'm sure there's still room for improvement.

Remembr to use contextual words at a slightly lower percentage than your target phrase.
I've used this example a few time, nut imagine you were promoting a pge for "Cell phones"
Use terms like 3g, 4g, network, Iphone, Android, Ios etc. Use them to a good but slightly lower percentage than your target phrase, use them in H tags as well if you have more than one.
Google is slightly better at parsing these days and looks for this sort of context.
They claim they read and understand your page. I sniff bullshit at that. But they do know what words or phrases to expect surrounding a topic, so it's important to use them.

Thanks for this tip. Im trying to learn about SEO keywords. So far I only use them in the articles and blogs as directed by the client. But a deeper understanding would definitely help me do a better job!

I managed to avoid this over optimization by searching for synonym words and LSI expressions for it.
For example : Top, popular, newest, most acclaimed, etc. The list goes on.
With this technique you really can rank for LSI terms and Avoid over optimization at the same time.
You can even use KeywordShitter or a similar tool to look if you can find synonyms that people are
already searching for !
