Imagine this: you have 3 devs and 3 months.
How would you build a better alternative to onlyfans?

What do you think would take to outcompete them in 1 year? (both from the tech and biz side like getting influencers onboard etc)
Fremium model based on ads? Tiktok like UI? How about PPV/micro transactions like on many Chinese streaming apps?

Any thoughts? long-form welcomed as well in case you've been active in this industry.

This may be good. I think onlyfans is divided into people who just want to see a celebrity naked and people who want to have some sort of relationship with a smaller creator. PPV makes much more sense for those that just want to see some naked bodies, whereas the monthly subscription makes more sense for those who want to have the feeling of a relationship.

Would forget about competing, BUT you can be a small more niche version and still make money.
But mostly you need a budget, and a perfect recruitment and PR/ marketing team.

you wrong. if you know about startup blitzscaling you'll realise you don't need all of the things above.
uber had a lot of competitors. OF doesn't have any serios one.

small team. 10x better personalisation in the feed for users and 2x better rates for creators could do wonders.

been thinking to offer affiliate % to influencer agencies as they have a big list of active influencers and could bring a lot of them onboard. A big % + fixed fee sign up would motivate them.

Aside from agencies, who would be the best group that could benefit from an affiliate program? who to target first?
 
Your need 6 billion in advertising money and that what they got in reserve.

Use a spy tool you can see there budget.

This don't mean you can not challenge them but with your own twists.

If the public enjoy your website your get plenty sign up.

Facebook never said fuck it as tiktok came to the scene....
 
Onlyfans is already pissing off a lot of the thots on the website. They've been cutting payments, ignoring smaller streamers, etc. Just existing as an alternative is good enough, But you could always enforce some sort of theme thing. Maybe theme weeks. Edit: you should implement the ability to stream on both platforms at the same time as well. Even coming out with your own software.

I would also include operators of "messenger bots" and "dating app bots", to deliver you the traffic you need.

Nobody going to ditch such big site to a smaller one, unless the smaller one pays them more or extra extra than they already earn.

It's not about who came first, it's about marketing and vision for the future...
 
It's about who has more money to advertise, it's about who has money to bring in influencers.
You can be the best developer, make the best things, but if they are in front of the wrong ppl or no ppl at all they are rendered useless.

There are alternatives. A lot of alternatives like Loyalfans, AVN Stars, FanCentro, IsMyGirl/Guy, Frisk.Chat, Sponsee.me, and the list goes on. And they're all adult-friendly, unlike OnlyFans which is a ticking time bomb before they kick all the spicy content creators off. My favorites? Loyalfans & FanCentro because they both have an affiliate program for finding fans, not just models.

You want to compete?
  • Offer an incentive for models to join. (No fees for x months. Can you afford that?)
  • Lower overall fees (can you beat 80%? On paper yeah, you can go 85, 90, or 95%, but what about affiliates to drive traffic or ad spend?)
  • Quicker payouts (weekly or on-demand)
  • Lower minimums (can you beat $20?)
  • Clip store
  • Affiliate program for both models and fans. Lifetime tenure, can you beat 5%?
  • Do you have the network to get models onboard?
  • How are you going to help the creators grow?
  • and the list goes on
Building the platform is going to be the easy part, it's getting creators on board that's going to be a challenge.

The thing with OnlyFans is it's the Kardashian (or Paris Hilton before her) of premium social platforms. It's popular because it's popular. There are much better platforms out there.
