except for movie piracy does ever in india any major copyright case got caught?

HUL was having some cases about copyright infringement, and ecommerce sites snapdeal etc were having some cases about copying names and logo's with counterfeight products. There are some other but which segment you are exactly discussing about?, and they were never proved till now, the cases were still going on and if you compare with other cases from different countries these cases won't be in top 100 even, so they are not so big scams

so in india content theft is common?

You need to worry more about Google than law when it comes to copyright problem with text, jokes kind of stuff

I beginning to loose the whole point of this thread..

legal cases and proceedings are rarely published and discussed online. there may be thousands of cases in india that we wouldn't know of. do not steal, post without permission, use copyrighted material.

that's a criminal offense and it wouldn't help anybody grow.

only sensational trials get a viewing on media and the courts are ruthless, it takes years for a case to fully prosecute. i would rather avoid any possible damage.

we are on black hat forum

Actually there is no major issue that was addressed lately or in news like that, but there are cases when jokes on political leaders and some hate speech put people into jail. As such even if you have a movie website you won't be caught for that, if you keep ur track clean. Even if you get caught or assume you have that much big website and you get caught, you can somehow buy authorities in your favour. I think that's the goodness of India yet :D Even if you go to police to say that someone stole your website, then they gonna laugh, isn't gonna do anything.

thread abt copyright

people are generally hit the complain button . Not going that level as you ask. its mostly waste of the time they feel that way.

Copyright issues are not a big deal in India (upto now), more so because the punishment for it is not severe, and law enforcement actually have better things to do (in India). In countries like US, copyright issues are a big deal.

That part made me to laugh and literally roll on the floor ... Because you are so right .... In India, if someone goes to police to complain "my website has been copied, etc", the police will call a psychiatrist (brain doctor) to handle the situation further.

I had to lodge complaint against someone once, which had something to do with paypal. It was rather funny seeing the police officer's face when he read my complaint. He was like "wtf is papal?". Most of them are idiots, who never touched computers lol. What would you expect? :p

P.S. Not trying to be a racist. I live in India, and this situation is real.. lol.
