Online Store SERP

I'm fairly new to IM and my partner and I will be opening an online store. We plan to have a blog with tutorials which will be on a subdomain, but I'm not sure how to rank the site since the online store will be full of products only. Titles, Meta Tags, Description will have keywords but is that enough?

Would it be beneficial to use target keywords and phrases in blog posts, and have one keyword linked to a product that's in our online store? Will that look spammy and hurt our ranking instead?

Not sure how to rank the site? Visit amazon.com or any other top ranking online store and copy what they are doing as regards on-page SEO. Linking to your products with keywords within your blog posts will not hurt your site in any way unless when done excessively.
