Online Store Domains

I keep coming across domains that sell products with high amount of backlinks but they are online for just over 2-4 years. Which doesn't make sense I think. Link profile is clean and everything. Is it worth buying such domains?

Hi, GreenGrass2019. If the backlinks are high quality and the domain history is clean, then even if the domain has been online for a short time, it may still have value. You can use some tools to evaluate this.

A red flag is when the content exists for only one year on the Wayback Machine. This could indicate that the domain was used just once for blackhat SEO. However, if there was a genuine website with content for two or more years, and the site’s niche remained unchanged (the owner stayed the same), then the domain has real value—especially if it has organic backlinks.

They are probably setup specifically to build some easy links to then to sell. I doubt they are overly dangerous but I also can't imagine they have a ton of juice. Who knows though, they may be from start ups that had a buzz about them and then never made it to market.

There are lots of genuine reasons that a newish domain could have loads of backlinks and still have been dropped.

My Bro in law, for example, has a fair sized company round here and buys a few domains every year for different specials and events and then lets them drop. In that time there will be some backlinks and content history created, they aren't negative sites but I can't imagine those (specifically) would be worth bothering with.

A new business or campaign could garner some press attention that could lead to backlinks. Lots such ventures will collapse the second funding falls through (or some other business issue). I'm not saying that the domains the OP is looking at are negative or positive, I just wanted to stick my oar in.

Depends. If the backlinks are legit and not spammy, it could be a solid buy.
