Online SPY Tools - You really gotta know them!

Ok, so I'll go straight to the point:

Most of the people know about this one; anyway there's a plethora of information to be given in here so I'll just sum it up, in case you didn't know.

1.) Do a search for any website, and you can see how much does a website spends per day on AdWords, how many clicks they get via AdWords per day, what their average position is, how much competition they have for their main keywords, what keywords they rank organically on the search engines, and what keywords they pay for them on AdWords.

2.) Do a search for a keyword, such as "make money". The site will tell you how much it costs to use that keyword, what competitors are using that keyword and what other similar keywords they are using, organic results for those k/w , and a bunch of other stuff.

Finds backlinks linking to your competition, as well as their description, language,size and Page Rank. Of course, you can check your own backlinks as well, and even verify them, in case you placed an order from somebody, and convince yourself of his work

Status: The thing is, you can only do 10 searches per hour. You can buy a gold account to lift that limit, but I'm sure you know well how to fix that without paying my black hatters

This site gives you TONS of information. You can view how much traffic a site gets, and the demographics of the site's users (age, gender, household income, ethnicity, head of household education, children etc)

1.) You can see other sites that a site's audience frequents, which can give you tons of insight into lifestyle and behavioral traits. The site brakes it down into how often users go to others sites too.

2.) You can check out designated market areas, what popular domains are on a site (great for gauging a market), and how long people stay on a site. You can also compare traffic with up to 5 other different website destinations.

Since you are talking about Spyfu, I got a question.

I've been searching keywords on both spyfu and semrush, and I'm getting different results when it comes to Advertisers - or I don't understand something.

Let's say I use your example "make money"

Spyfu Advertisers - N/A

Semrush Adwords - 11

Is Semrush Adwords the same as Spyfu Advertisers and if so, why are they different? One is more up-to-date?

That is a strange case. It isn't really that one site is more up to date. It just seems like the last month we weren't served ads by Google. But in general we have found ads under ad history. I just added an article to our knowledge base to address this:

It makes sense but...

For "make money", the last time they had ads was in February, and there was only four. SemRush has 11.

The last time SpyFu had close to 11 was in December with 9.

Which one, between SpyFu and SemRush, is the more accurate, the more recent? I'm guessing this could be a breaking point between choosing a keyword or not.

yeah spyfu is an amazing tool... but really to expensive.. i would love a premium membership.. as for the other tools have not used them yet.. i will chek them out

I have compared spyfu to what I really spend on adwords and its not even close. The estimates are so far off it really makes me question the program

From what I can tell, SEM rush is more for organic traffic, but I might be mistaken.
Keyword Spy seems like a good middle ground between the two. If you don't do a lot of PPC I would suggest starting with it.

My advice is to just buy a month at each of them and use it for a month.. learn how it works and see if it suits what you want to do, and gives you the data you're after.

The trials of these things never really demonstrate the power IMO. Spyfu will keep all your keyword/domain lists even if you don't renew your membership. I think they have a 3 day membership available too.

Pros:
- Does exactly what it says on the tin and does it very well.
- great keyword lists for domains
- Also gives you nice domain lists for keywords
- Great reports on competition history of a keyword and ad copy
- Accurate data more often than not
- The spyfu kombat tool is great
- Daily Top $$, Activity and Per click lists.
- Good comparisons between US and UK data

The very strong (IMO) focus on PPC is either a good thing or bad thing depending on what you want.

Cons:
- It's not very fast to operate with IMO.
- Gotta pay for UK+USA seperately.
- Only google data
- The interface isn't always so consistent.
- Too much reliance on flash + Excel exports IMO.
- Can be a bit obtuse.
- Limited options for filtering your data

Never tried linkdiagnosis before. Many of bl checkers out there aren't really showing the real info, I'll check this out, probably I'll finally find one to stick with

I think the best way to have an all around vision of your backlinks or your competitors backlinks is to use multiple systems.

Link Diagnosis is one, but there is also Market Samurai, Traffic Travis or SEO Spyglass from link-assistant.

Also for your own backlinks I hear Yahoo Site Explorer is a good one!

Those are all pretty handy tools, I've been using Spyfu for a couple of years now, but all online data should be cross-checked in my opinion.
