I'm a rapper, won the local freestyle competitions for 4 years running - switching my lane, I have a studio microphone but need to order up the mixer and such however I can cook up a freestyle up for ya on a regular mic. I'm not like these mainstream rappers that dumb down their styles, don't provide any depth in songs, and are all about money, bitches, drugs, and sex. Any deadline? I'll PM you. Peace.

A producer I work with has a studio in his house in Lawrenceville. Nice setup, Pro Tools Control 24, isolated vocal booth, good mic selection. I've worked on alot of hiphop, r&b, some dance stuff, indie rock, even did a few commercials. Anyway I'm not really 'hooked up' with any major studio down here, I did most of my engineering work while I still lived in New York.

I can jump in on this if you want. I been socially promoting several artist over the past year.
I've also been booking some large shows with success. I can set up artist in shows to get some real great promotion.

Nice Setup! Are you working with alot of independent artist down there?
Also, I'm not surprised that you worked on alot of hip hip, as Atlanta right now IS the hip hop and R&B capital at this point and time, hands down.
Atlanta is a GREAT place to network because it still has that "southern hospitality" feel to it. Ofcourse, you still have to deal with the typical industry BS, but it much easier to run into someone who can help you then say ala LA or NY.
Nice to meet another fellow producer on this board. Good luck in the A! And remember, go to any networking event you come across. It'll help ALOT!

Ironically I was doing mostly hiphop in NY. As I said, I'm not doing it full time anymore. Industry's changed quite a bit in the past ten years or so, especially regarding major recording studios. Thanks for the heads up!
This is awesome! I'd love to do this from an experimental point of view. If we could all just focus on choosing one new totally undiscovered artist and absolutely hammer them all over the internet using everyones efforts imagine the effect that would have. Like Rick Rolling style, just to get our name or atleast BHW mentioned in the papers, would be fucking epic. Even if like 20 people grouped up on here and tried that, the effect would be immense. Can't wait to see if this develops into something solid! Great idea buddy

I'm in this space. It is not as easy as you think. You need to figure out an angle / do stuff that is crazy that isn't what everyone else is doing. There's like 10 million wannabes out there. I have sites that pull leads, I listen to new music every day. The best new music is coming out of Hotlanta, awesome stuff. There are sites that do like a subscription model, for $XX a month they do various low end promotion for artists.
Between ReverbNation and TuneCore/CDBaby/etc. there's really no reason for an artist not to just incorporate their own label and market their own stuff to get going. You need the big labels for setting up the big time stuff though, they got the infrastructure.
The biggest problem is all these new artists are lazy sacks of shit. They don't want to do anything, and expect money to appear on their doorstep overnight. There's a small percentage that are motivated, and out of those there's a slice who are really working it and doing some creative shit online.
That said, the time is totally prime for a new player to step in and do what you want to do. You could totally crush it. But the old school labels will feel threatened, you gotta be prepared to deal with their bullshit. With IM/online you can bypass the 899 levels of middlemen who want their slice, but all those middlemen get bitchy.

I love that attitude, I agree...I figure if we put together a good group of people from across the world UK, CA, USA etc and promoted 1 or 2 artist and implemented one marketing plan across the board, we might not make 40 million dollars but something is gonna happen.
and im curious enough to wanna know what that something is.
