Best thing to do is probably to open up a new account at your local bank, make sure you can access it online, connect it to one of your current banking accounts (so you can transfer monies over every day). Then go in an ask your bank how to make sure you're money will be safe.

You could also just ask to get paid by check?

With a PayPal account you only have to give your email address. They cannot steal anything without the account password.

For payment by check they will need your name and address.

For direct deposit to your bank account you have to give them your bank information including bank account number. They need your identification or online password to steal but sometimes it is not good to give your bank information to strangers.

I don't have a PayPal account and really don't want one. My ISP has blocked it.

    Problem with PayPal is:

Say you sell them a service, or a product you created on your computer, no actual physical item. If you did not physically ship your item, no matter what; your buyer can easily steal the money back from you.

Even with an online receipt, it is up to the SELLER to prove somehow that the BUYER did receive the CORRECT item they purchased. Paypal will always side on the buyer.

You could set up a "Business account" at your local bank; this way you could accept checks which are in your "Business" name. example: To: Pink Dot Freelancers

Then just send all your payments to your regular account. Most likely a business account will not be free. Look around online for the best rates.
